Night Train To Memphis?

"Night Train to Memphis" is a song written by Beasley Smith, Marvin Hughes and Owen Bradley.  It was made popular in 1943 by country legend Roy Acuff.  (The Charioters recorded it that same year.) Three years later, Roy starred in a movie with the same title.  (He played Roy Acuff, train station master.)

Since then, many people have recorded the song - Dean Martin, Red Foley, Rick Nelson - but in my opinion, no one sang this song as well as "The Killer" himself, Jerry Lee Lewis.  (Admittedly, it does help that Jerry recorded his version at Memphis' Sun Studios in 1970.)

I figured since my trip starts on a train from Salt Lake City at 3:30 am, "Night Train to Memphis" would be the perfect name for this blog.

Thanks for joining me on this trip.
